A Case of the Nibblies

Last night was a big success in terms of being at a social event and still sticking to the unprocessed rule. After work, Alex and Joanna and I went to a "Jews in Ukraine" event organized by the JDC, which is a really wonderful group. I'm working with another Cornell Alum who works for them on organizing a service/educational trip for young professionals to one of many exciting global locations! I'm so excited to be working on it, and I really hope it gets off the ground soon.

The event was at Pravda, which turned out to be an awesome venue. I didn't eat most of the food they were passing around (sighhhhhhh, processed), but everything looked great. It just had a cool atmosphere, too. I don't think I've ever even heard of another (trendy) Russian restaurant in NY. I definitely want to go back when I am eating/drinking normally again. I was able to eat a couple of hors d'oeuvres, including 2 stuffed cherry tomatoes and 3 stuffed mushrooms. Just filled with some cheese and herbs!

Dinner ended up being more like a mess of nibbles rather than an actual meal. The reason: Whole Foods at Bowery. Alex and I stopped over at the BEST Whole Foods in the city after Pravda, and it turned into quite the affair. We're both pretty serious food shoppers, and that WF is like a stroll in the park compared to the others in NYC, so we had to relish the moment. I got home at 10:30! My late yogurt snack at work and my noshes at Pravda held me over well, but hunger struck as I walked in the door. It was too late to eat anything real, so I ended up with: leftover tuna, a plum, and a few Marcona almonds, which all but transport me back to Espana. LOVE them, but they're a little heavy. Only a few at a time.

And look what I found at WF...

THE BEST LARABAR FLAVORS! I feel pretty strongly about these puppies. I just might need to eat the cocoa mole tonight for a "chocolate" fix.
